Every year Educational tours are arranged for each class to places of Scientific, Historical and Geographical or Aesthetic importance. Study tours to various industries and factories have sharpened the minds of the pupils. Visiting villages has opened their eyes to the sad plight of the poor and the illiterate.
The Handful of Rice Project was started during the year 2000. The mothers of our students put away a handful of rice everyday in a bag and after a certain period our children bring these rice filled bags to school. Rice collected thus helps to feed the inmates of Sneha Illam.
Sneha Illam has inmates, who are all boys picked from the streets of Pondicherry. Our sisters take care of them, educate them and teach them a trade. In order to develop a sense of responsibility towards society and to develop a sense of concern and compassion for the less privileged, our students visit Sneha Illam. Gifts in the form of food, clothing, stationery and toilet articles are periodically given.
